CHARLESTON (JG-TC) — A report of people smoking marijuana in a parking lot at 10:03 p.m. Nov. 9 on the 900 Block of Van Buren Ave led to the arrest of a Charleston man.
According to the Charleston police, Devin G. Hite, 20, was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a class 3 felony, after receiving a citizen complaint indicating occupants of a tan Chevrolet Malibu were smoking.
Police report that a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of both cannabis and evidence indicative of underage alcohol consumption. Approximately 40 grams of cannabis, $536, and the vehicle were seized as part of the investigation.
Hite has been placed in the Coles County jail pending bond.
